    Policy and Pints is a series of fun social events with OEFFA Policy’s team, offering a chance to network with food and farm policy leaders from across the state. Learn about the work they do to advance state and federal policy, hear about opportunities to plug into advocacy efforts, and engage with other changemakers. Connect with other advocates at each event and join a fun game of bingo for a chance to win a local product prize!   • 20th Annual Stinner Summit

    Whether from dwindling supplies, international turmoil, or regulations, we can expect fossil fuel prices to remain turbulent and high—along with the many basic farm inputs derived from petroleum. Farm operators have no choice but to absorb these price increases. Or do they? The Ohio State University’s Agroecosystem Management Program (AMP) invites farmers, policy makers, educators, food processors and distributors, researchers, and non-profits to join us for an all-day event on September 18. At the 20th annual Stinner Summit, attendees will brainstorm, discuss, and prioritize projects that could reduce our farming systems’ dependence on fossil fuel-based inputs. The Summit process invites people from different backgrounds to share their ideas and experiences. Farmers and others are responding to high fuel and input prices in many ways – including agroecological and regenerative approaches that reduce the need for inputs, alternative fuels and energy sources, and more energy efficient local food supply chains. Together we will discuss the pros and cons of strategies and projects that can be supported by the Stinner endowment. The event is free but pre-registration will be required.   • Urban Food Forest Tour

    Warmke Farm 622 8th St., Marietta, United States

    Warmke Farm's (Annie Warmke farmer) urban food forest project has not only planted up a food forest garden (for propagation stock) on one lot, but is in the process of planting five other properties. This is all on the same small two streets known as Historic Phillips Subdivision, an evolving neighborhood that’s been around since 1896. The tour will begin at Warmke Farm, go on a walk to see neighborhood forest sites, and return to the farm for tea and plant propagation demos. Register for this free tour here.   • Foraged and Sown Farm Tour: Bulk Herbs, Tea Blends, Culinary Salts, and Preserves

    Explore the fields and processing facility of Foraged and Sown with Common Greens. Foraged and Sown has been certified organic by OEFFA since 2017 for both their fresh produce and seedlings, and as an organic handler for their farm-produced teas blends and salts. Foraged and Sown has grown herbs, vegetables, and berries on multiple growing sites around Central Ohio starting in 2015. In 2020, they added a larger farm and production site in West Jefferson. Their dual focus on cultivated and foraged produce encompasses a broad range of herbs, fruits, greens, and roots. This event is hosted by Common Greens. Common Greens works every day in service to its mission: to build vibrant and inclusive marketplaces where food producers earn a decent living, farmland is kept in sustainable production, and everyone has access to healthy local foods.   • New Path Farm Tour: Mushrooms and Microgreens

    Matt and Alicia Merritt started New Path Farm in 2019, a small family farm in Sunbury, Ohio, that grows gourmet mushrooms and microgreens. They sell duck eggs from their free range, foraging ducks who happily roam 7.5 acres. They focus on sustainability and grow delicious, nutritious produce with a low environmental impact. This event is hosted by Common Greens.   • 2026 BIPOC Food and Farming Network Conference

    The BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Food and Farming Network is hosting its annual conference October 2-3, 2026, in Cleveland, Ohio. The BIPOC Farming Conference empowers farmers, deepens community bonds, and provides educational opportunities. There is an intentional effort in this year's conference to include a range of cultural identities with the theme "Honoring Our Heirlooms, Fortifying our Future."     Tour a 7-acre silvopasture on a pastured beef and chicken farm in Noble County! This silvopasture tour will take place at Hidden Creek Pasture where Wendall Miller, his wife Carla, and their five children manage 70 acres of rolling farm and woodlands. They raise pastured beef and chicken using managed grazing to improve their soils and produce healthy, nutrient dense foods for their family and community. Learn more and register here.

    Learn about commercial elderberry cultivation and processing from this working farm in Adams County! Curious about growing and processing elderberries? Wondering what it takes to build a licensed kitchen on your farm? Heather and Beth, owners and beginning farmers of Ohio Elderberry Farm + Kitchen, have been growing elderberries for personal use since 2008 before launching into growing them at scale in 2020. They cultivate approximately 450 elderberry bushes, primarily Adams, York, Nova, and Bob Gordon cultivars. Learn more and register here.

    How does local organic food come to market in an urban retail space? City Vittles brings foods from Ohio producers to a space on the west side of Cincinnati. See how they utilize technology to make customers’ shopping experience as convenient as possible, while also leveraging in-person interactions at markets. Hear about City Vittles’ food retail approach, which uses ideas and processes reminiscent of general stores and older food retail spaces, but incorporates today's technology to create a new customer experience. Learn about their various processes and services, including organic crop production, food-grade grain processing, composting, canning, and research. Hirzel Farms is dedicated to feeding their community and nurturing soil biodiversity, and they are committed to environmentally and socially responsible farming practices.  Ohio Soil Health Week occurs annually every second full week in November, honoring the late David Brandt, a sustainable agriculture trailblazer and the “Godfather of Soil Health.” The weeklong celebration features a variety of events hosted by multiple organizations and individuals around Ohio—all focusing on soil health.
