Visit four urban farms in Hamilton County, Ohio, each growing food for our community in its own way. Meet the farmers as they share each farm’s history and production methods. Together we can celebrate their successes and hear how they have overcome challenges. A unique opportunity to learn, network, and be inspired! This 51-acre vegetable operation grows and processes ingredients into soups, pasta sauces, dressings, jams, and dipping oils. This tour will cover how Sandra and Jeff Ashba’s farm incorporates growing organic vegetables and operating a cannery. Guest numbers are limited. Bowyer Farms’ 600 acres belong to the Cincinnati Zoo, and include wetland restoration, native plant sales and propagation, beekeeping, animal feed harvesting, cheetah run area, and sun and sheep farming. Owner, operator, and Farmer-in-Chief Samantha Steiner founded Dogwood Farm in 2010 to provide the northern Cincinnati, Ohio area all natural, locally raised meats and eggs. Her passion in farming stemmed from her upbringing as a fourth generation farmer. Growing up on a dairy farm, Samantha learned the responsibilities and importance of humane animal treatment and natural foods. Her holistic agriculture approach provides her livestock a stress free environment and leaves a positive impact on the land.
