  • Bowyer Farm Agrivoltaics Tour

    Bowyer Farm 2210 Mason Montgomery Rd., Mason, OH, United States

    Bowyer Farm is home to one of the largest solar arrays in southwest Ohio. This tour will explore their 140-acre (28MW) agrivoltaic solar grazing site, where hundreds of sheep are rotationally grazed under a commercial solar array. Walk through the farm with hosts and shepherds Amanda Wilson and Brady Kirwan from Ohio Solar Grazing, where they demonstrate and discuss their role in this agrivoltaic operation. Plan to park at Bowyer Farm's pavilion at the listed address for a brief introduction to the farm. Then we will board a shuttle to travel to the nearby grazing site. The shuttle will depart the pavilion at 10:15 a.m. and return by 11:45 a.m. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for touring the site field. Attendance is limited to 30 people and pre-registration is required. This registration form will close on Sunday, August 23, or when spots are filled. This event is a part of the 2026 OEFFA Farm Tour Series. It is held in partnership with Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden’s Bowyer Farm, Ohio Solar Grazing, and Farm-To-Power.

TNC is a nonprofit committed to protecting the lands and waters upon which all life depends. They take steps to increase the adoption of properly implemented regenerative agriculture practices that increase soil health and farm resilience.   • OEFFA Lake Effect Chapter: Urban Homestead Tour

    What can you accomplish on just half an acre? Join OEFFA's Lake Effect Chapter on a tour of this compact homestead that proves that small scale doesn't mean small impact, weaving together pollinator beds, vegetable gardens, and a dedicated fruit production area, with herbs tucked in throughout the landscape. A small flock of chickens rounds out the homestead, contributing to both food production and closed-loop fertility. With 950 gallons of water storage on site for irrigation and solar-powered drip irrigation currently in development, this homestead is a working example of resilient, resource-conscious design. Visitors will see firsthand how a small land holding can adapt quickly to a changing climate, offering practical, scalable ideas for anyone looking to grow more with less space. Please plan to park across the street at the cemetery.

  • High Tunnel Tomato Growing

    The Midwest Vegetable Growers Network (MVEG) is putting on a late-season field day series offering in-depth expertise in a hands-on approach from farmer peers, paired with local farmer educators. Bay Branch Farm will share the ins and outs of Annabel and Eric's high tunnel tomato growing operation. Growing in urban spaces since 2010, Bay Branch Farm provides high quality tomatoes and other items to various markets in and around Cleveland. This silvopasture tour will take place at Krusling Farm where the Krusling family raises 400 hair sheep on 90 acres of fescue clover pasture, plus 50 acres of rented ground for grazing annuals and 35 acres of unreclaimed limestone gravel mine which is in the process of being converted to natives for grazing.   • 20th Annual Stinner Summit

    Whether from dwindling supplies, international turmoil, or regulations, we can expect fossil fuel prices to remain turbulent and high—along with the many basic farm inputs derived from petroleum. Farm operators have no choice but to absorb these price increases. Or do they? The Ohio State University’s Agroecosystem Management Program (AMP) invites farmers, policy makers, educators, food processors and distributors, researchers, and non-profits to join us for an all-day event on September 18. At the 20th annual Stinner Summit, attendees will brainstorm, discuss, and prioritize projects that could reduce our farming systems’ dependence on fossil fuel-based inputs. The Summit process invites people from different backgrounds to share their ideas and experiences. Farmers and others are responding to high fuel and input prices in many ways – including agroecological and regenerative approaches that reduce the need for inputs, alternative fuels and energy sources, and more energy efficient local food supply chains. Together we will discuss the pros and cons of strategies and projects that can be supported by the Stinner endowment. The event is free but pre-registration will be required.   • Urban Food Forest Tour

    Warmke Farm's (Annie Warmke farmer) urban food forest project has not only planted up a food forest garden (for propagation stock) on one lot, but is in the process of planting five other properties. This is all on the same small two streets known as Historic Phillips Subdivision, an evolving neighborhood that’s been around since 1896. The tour will begin at Warmke Farm, go on a walk to see neighborhood forest sites, and return to the farm for tea and plant propagation demos. Register for this free tour here.   • Foraged and Sown Farm Tour: Bulk Herbs, Tea Blends, Culinary Salts, and Preserves

    Explore the fields and processing facility of Foraged and Sown with Common Greens. Foraged and Sown has been certified organic by OEFFA since 2017 for both their fresh produce and seedlings, and as an organic handler for their farm-produced teas blends and salts. Foraged and Sown has grown herbs, vegetables, and berries on multiple growing sites around Central Ohio starting in 2015. In 2020, they added a larger farm and production site in West Jefferson. Their dual focus on cultivated and foraged produce encompasses a broad range of herbs, fruits, greens, and roots. This event is hosted by Common Greens. Common Greens works every day in service to its mission: to build vibrant and inclusive marketplaces where food producers earn a decent living, farmland is kept in sustainable production, and everyone has access to healthy local foods.
