• OEFFA Market Gardening Chapter Farm Tour and Potluck

    Take some time to reflect on the season and connect with other market gardeners at a farm tour and potluck at Green Table Gardens in Xenia. Farmer Stephen Mackell is in his 12th year of market gardening (formerly at Mission of Mary Farm) and the 3rd year at this new site. Take a quick tour of the no-till and no tractor operation, high tunnels, caterpillar tunnels, propagation, and wash/pack. The OEFFA certification process will also be discussed as the site is certified organic through OEFFA. The tour starts at 3 p.m. with potluck dinner and discussion to follow. Please bring chairs to sit in and food to share! Bringing your own plates/utensils would also be helpful. Watch an educational and inspiring slideshow from a past OEFFA Conference workshop that dives into the soil web of life, powerfully reinforcing your reasons for striving to grow and eat organic. The presentation is about 45 minutes long, so there will hopefully be time to share thoughts and socialize as well. Please bring a dish to share (or just some organic chips or fruit!) along with a plate and utensils to the potluck.

    Owner, operator, and Farmer-in-Chief Samantha Steiner founded Dogwood Farm in 2010 to provide the northern Cincinnati, Ohio area all natural, locally raised meats and eggs. Her passion in farming stemmed from her upbringing as a fourth generation farmer. Growing up on a dairy farm, Samantha learned the responsibilities and importance of humane animal treatment and natural foods. Her holistic agriculture approach provides her livestock a stress free environment and leaves a positive impact on the land.

  • SWOEFFA Chapter: Urban Farm Tour

    Visit four urban farms in Hamilton County, Ohio, each growing food for our community in its own way. Meet the farmers as they share each farm’s history and production methods. Together we can celebrate their successes and hear how they have overcome challenges. A unique opportunity to learn, network, and be inspired! This is a car caravan-style program so we will travel from site to site throughout the day in our personal vehicles. A map and GPS directions along with parking information will be provided. This Urban Farm Tour presented by the Southwest Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association Chapter (SWOEFFA) and the Hamilton County Conservation District.
