SUMMARY:Agrivoltaics: Solar and Agriculture
DESCRIPTION:This event has been canceled. \nMadison Fields Solar Project (MFSP) has become one of the first operating utility-scale solar sites to intentionally integrate forage crop production. This site includes actively testing and growing forage crops\, including hay and alfalfa\, along with soil health\, precision agriculture\, and complementary grazing between the rows of solar panels. Over the next 35-40 years\, MFSP is expected to produce enough energy to power approximately 38\,000 Ohio homes annually. The Ohio State University is involved in research at the site\, being one of the few to receive a U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Department of Agriculture FARMS (Foundational Agrivoltaic Research for Megawatt Scale) grant to conduct that research. \nPre-registration is required for this tour. Register for this free tour here. Exact location details will be emailed to registered participants. \nThis event is a part of the 2026 OEFFA Farm Tour Series. It is held in partnership with Farm-To-Power\, Savion Renewable Energy\, and The Ohio State University Extension. \n
